This 24.4-second synthetic recording follows an ordinary evening: something finished, a conversation worth keeping, and a presentation still on the mind. Press play; there is no signup and this page does not ask for your microphone.

Okay. Today was actually pretty good, but my mind still feels busy. I finished the thing I had been avoiding, had a nice call with my sister, and went for a walk before dinner. I keep thinking about tomorrow’s presentation, though I know what I want to say. I think I am mostly worried that I will rush it and forget to breathe. I want to remember that I have prepared and that one imperfect meeting does not decide the whole week.

The same run returned the title “Calm reflection before presentation” and this entry. These are the captured outputs, not an editor’s replacement.

Okay. Today was actually pretty good, but my mind still feels busy.

Notice the words “I think” and “mostly worried.” They remain in the entry. The uncertainty belongs to the speaker. The final reassurance also came from the recording; the app did not invent it.

This clear, scripted sample is an easy case. It does not establish accuracy for an unfamiliar name, a noisy walk, mixed languages or spontaneous speech. The test ran on 22 August 2026 (IST) against a local Journo backend using its real providers. The timing excludes a phone’s upload and screen-rendering time. Other recordings may be cleaned differently.

You can inspect the captured response and measurement file. This run did not test offline recording or force-quit recovery. Our separate seven-check reliability guide explains how to check those before trusting any app with an important entry.

Try a harder example before choosing an app

Record a harmless thirty-second thought with a name, a correction and a little uncertainty. For example: “Tuesday—actually, Wednesday. I might ask Sam, but I haven’t decided.” Use fictional details if you upload the recording to a service.

Compare the audio with the result:

  • Does Wednesday remain the intended day?
  • Does “might” remain a possibility, or become a commitment?
  • Can you replay the source and correct a mistaken name?
  • Can you find the exact recognised text alongside the cleaned version?

A fluent paragraph can still change your meaning. Choose the result you can check and recognise as your own. We have not run this harder example through the competing apps and do not claim a winner.

Where Journo keeps the recording and text

Journo saves the recording on your device before uploading a temporary copy for remote processing. The original remains available for playback. Entries can sync through your private iCloud, and the backend currently retains transcript and generated text. Journo’s current app is not an entirely on-device transcription service. See the privacy policy for retention and deletion details, including the current build’s backend-text deletion limitation.

The first completed entry is fully readable. Recording and full audio playback remain free; for later long entries, the first three minutes remain readable and Premium unlocks the remaining transcript when there is a meaningful locked tail. You can choose between the cleaned entry and “As you said it.”

Start with a thought you would like to keep

If this result is what you want from a voice journal, try one ordinary moment in Journo: something that happened, something you are deciding, or something you want to remember. Check the audio and both text views before recording anything you would find difficult to lose.

For an existing recording, Voice Memo Rescue offers a separate, limited web conversion into an editable entry and a downloadable archive. It asks for consent before uploading your chosen audio; it is not an offline tool.
